NERIDA PALMER is a Senior Clinical Psychologist with over twenty years’ experience working in both public and private health settings. Nerida provides a warm presence and a safe therapeutic space for you to work through your current challenges and create the positive change you want to see in your life. She works collaboratively with you to foster the strengths and values you already have, while gaining new skills and resources to support your well-being.

Nerida has worked extensively in treating depression, anxiety and trauma, as well as personality disorders, self-esteem issues, perinatal issues, self-harm and alcohol and substance use problems. Nerida has specialised experience and expertise in working with people who have experienced childhood or adult trauma and always uses a compassionate, gentle and client-centred pace in this work. Nerida has also worked extensively with people who are coping with significant events or life stressors, such as relationship difficulties, pregnancy and parenting, grief and loss and study and work-related stress.

In addition to her work at Southside Health and Well-Being, Nerida worked for many years within community mental health services, specialising in treating adults with acute and complex Depression and Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, First Episode Psychosis and Borderline Personality Disorder. Nerida was instrumental in setting up and running a Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) program for people with difficulties managing intense emotions, who have low self-worth or who struggle with self-harm and suicide. Nerida also helped develop and run training for health professionals on trauma-informed care and the diagnosis and treatment of trauma.

Nerida's work draws on a number of therapy models including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), EMDR (an evidence-based treatment for Trauma), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Internal Family Systems and Schema-based therapies. Nerida holds an Honours degree in Psychology from the University of NSW, a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Macquarie University and is a member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA).
